How to get started on your travel journey with Onefam Hostels
Let’s be honest.
Almost every person has thought about leaving their life behind, packing up a bag, and going to travel the world.
In your mind it sounds like a great idea, but when it comes down to actually planning it and doing it, most people feel discouraged.
Then this idea just becomes something they tuck into the back of their minds and think, “I’ll just travel in my 40s!”
Well we’re here to tell you that it is very possible, right now!
Traveling isn’t as scary as it seems to be.
You might be scared to go out there on your own. What if I feel lonely? What if I get homesick? How can I possibly get around in another country if I don’t know the language?
All of these concerns are completely normal and felt by probably every single person who’s traveled themselves.
And I’m happy to say there are easy solutions to all of these fears! At OneFamHostels, we take pride in the fact that we want to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
And if I do say so myself, I think we do a pretty good job. I’ll tell you how you could start this amazing journey on your own.
First, let’s acknowledge your fears.
When traveling solo, staying at hostels is the easiest way to make friends and avoid the despair of loneliness. In fact sometimes you don’t even have a second to think and be by yourself. At each of our 14 locations of OneFamHostels, we provide plans to attend during the day and night time.
Most of our guests come and join us, whether it’s a day tour through a lovely city, or a night out on the town visiting our favorite bars and clubs.
We round up whoever wants to join, and the lovely staff guarantees a good time. I would know first hand since I was just a guest before I joined the team.
Making friends and living experiences
You’d be surprised as to how many people are traveling alone and I promise they all have the same concerns. They want to make friends and they want to get the full experience. And yes, they’re scared too.
You spend the day on a walking tour or a trip to famous sites, visiting the hotspots of the city, grabbing food with the staff and your fellow OneFamHostels guests, then return back to the hostel with a bunch of new friends.
Safety is very important for us
Even if, let’s say you want to go and explore on your own, the staff will ensure your safety and will give you very detailed recommendations of where to go. You are always welcome to call the front desk if anything ever comes up, and they will handle sending transportation to pick you up if you ever need it.
Don’t feel like you’re doing it wrong! Even if you don’t attend the day or night events provided by the hostel, our hostel is set up so that you can socialize in any corner.
We have places that are sure to delight you
We have rooftops and yards in most of our locations, where most people go to decompress and meet other people. It’s a lot more casual and a lot less awkward than you think. A small, “Hello, what’s your name?” goes a long way.
We have chill rooms where our guests can sit down and watch their favorite shows on some comfy couches and just relax.
After staying at many hostels throughout my backpacking journey, one of my favorite things that OneFamHostels does to make their guests feel included is their free dinners.
In all of our hostels
In all locations, the OneFamHostels staff makes dinner every night and the kitchen becomes its own little event. Guests from all over, come together, and help the staff make food, and we all eat together like we’re back in grade school.
There are many opportunities to make friends and get into the hang of traveling solo. With all of these options, it’s hard to feel lonely. Even if you’re not the most social person, you’d be surprised how easy it is to join a conversation and make a friend in any corner of our hostel.
